Open-Source Multi-Channel Hand-Tracking Interface for Music, Art, and More

Publish Date: 2022-12-14

Quadrant from Interstitial Technology is a human-computer interface based on an array of distance sensors and is developed as an open hardware circuit board that acts as a USB controller to a host computer. The hardware consists of 4 time-of-flight sensors and is specifically designed to detect the position, velocity, and orientation of the user’s hand in free space. Signal processing techniques are used to recognize gestures and other events, which can be mapped to a variety of musical parameters in software.

This campaign will support the development of a fully hackable bootloader and control voltage (CV) output for integration with analog synthesizers. This Quadrant can make computer-produced music, control your DAW, interact with DJ software, and play with Max MSP and Pure Data. It can be used for unique VJ control, LED lighting, and video synthesizers.
